Disabled American Veterans Donation Pick-up

Quick Info

Disabled American Veterans History and Background

Founded in 1920, the DAV has a mission to assist servicemen's and servicewomen's transitions to civilian roles by offering charity services and community assistance.

The DAV collects gently used items from donation pickups to donate to veterans and their families, then sells these items in their thrift stores to raise money and fund other services. The cash they raise in their stores allows them to fund free rides for medical appointments, job training for civilian employment, VA reform legislation, and more.

Common Guidelines When Giving Donations

Before giving donations to any organization, do your research to determine:

  • Is it really a nonprofit?
  • Do they respect their cause and community?
  • Are donations tax deductible?
  • Do they offer a service for donation pick-ups?
  • How much of their funding goes to support their mission?

Why Donate to Disabled American Veterans?

For over 100 years, the Disabled American Veterans has helped servicemen and women who served our country receive the VA service, medical treatment, and rehabilitation training they need to rejoin civilian life. This nonprofit, charity organization offers lifetime support for veterans and their families.

DAV also provides veterans and their families with employment training and resources, hosting job fairs, partnering with RecruitMilitary, and advocating for the benefits of hiring veterans with large employers.

The Disabled American Veterans organization also provides outreach for veterans in need, including homeless servicemen and women and victims of natural disasters.

Can You Get a Tax Deduction When Donating to Disabled American Veterans?

Yes, DAV will write a tax deduction receipt for your donations, including clothing, small kitchen appliances, household items, and other donations.
