Generally, we can only accept around 20 or 25 boxes or bags due to the size of our pick-up vehicles. However, we can work with you if you have a substantial donation. We may schedule multiple donation pickup times to collect all of your items.
Do You Have to Be Home During the Pickup?
No, you do not have to be home when we come to pick up your donation. Ensure your donations are well marked and left in an accessible and visible area for our pickup teams.
Do We Schedule Pickups at Set Times?
We cannot provide you with a set time frame for donation pickup. We do schedule donations on set days, allowing you to plan for the arrival of our teams, although you do not have to remain home to wait for the pickup driver.
You can simply leave your donated items outside and allow our team to do the rest.
Does the Weather Affect Donation Pickup?
Our pickup crews accept donations in most weather, including snow and rain. However, we may reschedule a pickup if the weather becomes dangerous. We do not charge to reschedule your pickup day due to the weather.
Can You Get a Reminder About Your Donation Pickup?
We understand how busy life can get in Long Beach. If you want, you can request a call or email the day before your scheduled donation pickup. We want you to have plenty of time to get your donation ready so you feel comfortable.
Can You Make a Donation from an Apartment?
Yes, we are happy to take donations made from apartments. Place your donation outside the building in an easily accessible location. Ensure that you do not leave your donation inside, as our drivers cannot enter an apartment building.
Do We Take Donations from Gated Communities?
You may make a donation if you live in a gated community in Long Beach. However, you’ll need to provide the driver with a gate code or otherwise arrange for them to enter the neighborhood. Then, drivers simply pick up your donation from outside your home.
What Kind of Items Can You Donate?

Why Can’t We Accept Damaged Items for Donation?
We’re happy to provide free donation pickup in Long Beach. However, our human services department cannot repair damaged items. Therefore, we can only accept items in gently used or like-new condition. These items go to people in need, so we focus on accepting usable items in California.
